Foreword by Hon. Anthony Smellie
Chief Justice of the Cayman Islands

Welcome to the Judicial and Legal Administrations’ website. It is a site presented to the public to enable access to information and services, some of which are offered in common between these two Administrations of the Cayman Islands Government.
The presentation of this website has been a work in progress for some years now and, to the extent that there already are many others offering access to judicial and legal information in other countries, it must be acknowledged to be long overdue.
The wait will, however, have been worth the while. When fully operational, this site will be offering leading edge facilities and services, fully consonant with the technological capabilities of the times and the modern expectations of the client public.
Users will be able to file pleadings and other Court documents electronically, duly certified to enable admissibility in Court proceedings.
By means of encrypted access, users will be able to search the Register of Actions and other publicly available Court records. They will be able to access the Cayman Islands Law Reports and Laws of the Islands; databases which will be hyperlinked in a manner most suitable for research purposes.
Fees, fines and other payments into Court will be able to be done on line and certified receipts issued.
In short, the full array of technological services that one might expect of a website that supports the operations of the Courts and public Legal Administration, including our Cayman Islands Law School.
While those interactive facilities are being developed for launch in the near future, the public can now use the site in this its present static phase, for access to significant database of useful information about judicial and legal services in the Cayman Islands and for guidance on use of the Court’s systems.
Our ongoing objective is to improve the administration of justice within the Cayman Islands and through this medium, to facilitate for the public at home and abroad, access to our judicial and legal systems.
By all means, please contact us with any advice you may have for the ongoing enhancement of the site towards these objectives.
